I met GB at my office September 2005. She was 65 and a breast cancer survivor. In 2002 she had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation for breast cancer. When she came to see me she was cancer free. She came to me for help with a fear of water. She was taking arimedex, neuroton, diavin & effexor. Her comment on why she was taking these drugs was, “ cancer stuff” and high blood pressure.
After a pre-talk, I used a modified Elman Induction and she went quickly into trance like a highly motivated client frequently does. A regression to cause revealed that at the age of 4 her older brother had held a hose in her mouth while the hose was running. GB choked and was very frightened. No long term physical damage was done. We neutralized and integrated the event. All testing demonstrated that this was the initial event and that she fully integrated it in about 15-20 minutes. While she was still in trance I asked, “What else can I help you with?” She responded that her cancer treatments had left her with some neuropathy and some hot flashes. I helped her perform some rewiring for the neuropathy and some guided a visualization of comfort or the hot flashes. GB left my office feeling very positive. Less than an hour after she left my office, she called me on her cell phone to tell me how much she was enjoying floating in her pool. She felt safe and relaxed.
GB came back for a second visit the following Monday. Her progress was great but she wanted some help with some weight release that she attributed to the cancer therapies. We had one session on weight release and she believed she had what she needed. I shared her belief and volunteered that I could help if she needed and reinforcement.
GB was an enthusiastic supporter of hypnosis and the work that I had done with her. She would tell everyone she met about the work we had done together. She became one of my best public relations people and many individuals came to me because of GB’s praise.
About two years later she called me. Her cancer was back and it had metastasized to her spine, her hip, her femur and her brain. I had recently spent a weekend with Steve Parkhill, a wonderful hypnotist and author of Answer Cancer. I recommended she visit Steve. GB agreed and I facilitated her meeting with Steve. GB spent several sessions with Steve. She was very pleased with the work they did together. Later she referred to her time with Steve as “her time to clean up her entire life and dump every negative thought.”
After GB worked with Steve, she pursued many alternative therapies, including chelation, acupuncture, infusions, inoculations made from her own cells and other alternative therapies.
I didn’t hear much from GB for a while. She had parts of her thigh bone replaced. People she referred to me provided me glimpses of her progress in her life and specifically with her cancer.
In April 2007 at GB’s insistence, I met with her younger adult son to help him deal with his grief for his mother’s poor health and likely passing. We have three sessions together and he was better able to get through most days. He remains profuse in his praise for the work we did together.
In December 2007 GB’s husband had an irregular heart beat and I had four sessions in which he learned to relax and get his heart back into rhythm.
In November of 2008 GB sent her older adult son to me for help with depression and grief. We had four sessions together unfortunately I would say that our success was only moderate. He remains a very closed down individual.
GB made an appointment with me on October 12, 2009. Her cancer had spread to her lungs, brain, hip and spine. Her left ear was severely burned and her hearing had been impaired by the radiation to the brain. She refused any more chemotherapy. She was getting tired and asked me for the motivation to keep working on her recovery.
We worked together on motivation and on honoring the will of the Creator.
Over the next 4 months we averaged a one hour meeting per week. We covered a variety of issues involving shrinking her tumors, improving her hearing, maintaining her appetite, sleeping well, and managing her pain.
One perhaps unusual healing seem worth mentioning. Either the cancer or the radiation or both had caused her body to stop making blood platelets. (A very healthy body might have a platelet count of 250,000 or even 300,000.) GB was getting transfusions nearly every week. Most of the transfusion were to help maintain her platelet count and to provide hemoglobin. A typical cycle would be: Just after a transfusion her platelet count would go up to 40,000-60,000 and within a week could be back to 6,000-10,000. GB and I started to work together on producing platelets. One visit to Mayo her platelets we at 40,000. Without any addition of platelets by Mayo, the next visit instead of dropping as expected her platelet count was above 65,000. Her doctor insisted that her body could not produce platelets, but no error could be found in either measurement. When GB shared this experience with me, as she was sharing the doctors statement that it was impossible for her body to produce platelets, she told me that she just smiled and told her doctor, “Then it must be a miracle.”
As the 2009 was turning to 2010, GB had fewer stories of grand success, our work together centered on encouraging her to eat, letting go of her pain and sleeping well.
My wife Joan and I provided her with several Reiki sessions. Joan facilitated some of these sessions. I facilitated some. As we went into February she wanted us both to work with her and we complied with her wish.
In the first week in February, Hospice was brought in to help with her transition and her family with her transition.
My last hypnosis session with her we went to her safe place together and rested without pain. I left her sleeping.
Joan and I saw her once more before she made her rainbow connection. She was very sleepy and we held her hand and sent her blessings and gratitude. A few days later she passed peacefully at her home with her family by her side.
The large church was filled to capacity for her memorial service. We joined several hundred people who had known GB and been touched by her presence. She had many friends and she had helped many people.
Both her husband and her younger son were able to deliver strong and positive eulogies about her love, her strength, her humor and her ability to get the job done.
GB was a wonderful wife and mother. She remains an “old soul” very wise and very supportive of hypnosis.
I feel honored and blessed to have walker beside GB and her family for this portion of her life.
